Raise Your Dental IQ: Gum Disease in Kelowna

Raise Your Dental IQ

There are many things we can do in Kelowna to prevent gum disease and improve our oral health. One simple lesson involves bacteria, and everyone’s mouth has a lot of it.

But, don’t worry, bacteria per se isn’t the problem. Dental problems occur when the balance of bacteria becomes unhealthy. This is where brushing and flossing come into play. Like your mother always said, brush and floss your teeth every day (and twice is best).

When it comes to a good toothbrush, don’t get sentimental. We recommend replacing your toothbrush every three to four months. If you can avoid the unhealthy balance of bacteria in your mouth, you can avoid gum disease, tooth decay, and even bad breath.

A regular routine of brushing and flossing your teeth, along with twice-a-year visits to Love Your Smile in Kelowna, will go a long way toward preventing gum disease. Early signs of gum disease include bleeding when brushing. If you think you might have gum disease, do not delay: call us for an appointment, and if necessary, we’ll begin gum disease treatment. We also provide general and cosmetic dentistry.
