Are Dental Veneers Reversible?

Whenever someone considers dental aesthetics to improve their smile, porcelain veneers usually come into the conversation. They are one of the procedures offered at Love Your Smile in Kelowna.

Unlike a crown that completely covers the tooth, a veneer is a super thin layer of a heavy-duty, medical grade porcelain, composite bonding, or ceramic. When bonded to a tooth, the veneer creates a natural-looking new surface. It instantly improves the appearance of the visible portion of your tooth.

Porcelain veneers can fix many minor to moderate issues, including the size, shape, and color of your teeth. Gaps between teeth can be filled, as well as the lengthening or shortening of teeth to complete your attractive smile.

At our initial consultation, we’ll discuss your goals for the procedure, and both types of veneers: porcelain and prepless. Before a porcelain veneer is put on the tooth, we first removes a very thin layer of enamel. Enamel cannot be replaced, which is one reason this technique is permanent.

With prepless veneers, enamel removal is frequently not required. When no enamel is removed, the treatment can be reversible.

Additionally, it is possible to use both types of veneers for multiple teeth, depending on the condition of each tooth.
