What “Teeth in a Day” Means, and Who It’s Right For

Teeth in a Day – sometimes called the All-on-4® treatment concept or same-day full-arch implants – is a way to replace an entire upper and/or lower arch of teeth. It uses 4-6 strategically placed implants with a full-arch bridge made from high-quality, biocompatible porcelain for a natural look and feel. For many patients, temporary fixed teeth can be attached the same day, so you leave with a secure, natural-looking smile while your implants heal.

This treatment may be a good fit if you:

  • have many failing, missing, or severely worn teeth
  • currently wear dentures but want something fixed and secure
  • struggle with loose dentures or adhesives
  • want strong chewing ability and a more natural feel
  • want to avoid removable appliances
  • prefer a long-lasting, full-arch solution
  • are in generally good health and can maintain routine care

Even if you’ve been told you’re “not a candidate,” modern grafting (sinus lifts & bumps) and angled implant techniques often make full-arch implants possible. Free second-opinion consultations are always available at our clinic.

All-on-4® Dental Implants

  • Uses 4-6 implants per arch
  • Angled placement allows excellent support, often without grafting
  • Temporary fixed teeth placed same day in many cases
  • Temporary fixed teeth placed same day in many cases
  • Typically more cost-efficient than placing many single implants
  • Ideal for full mouth rehabilitation

Traditional Dental Implants

  • One implant per missing tooth
  • Best for isolated tooth replacement
  • May require more appointments, especially with grafting
  • Restorations are delivered once healing is complete

Which is better?
It depends on your goals and what feels right for you. During your consultation, we use a 3D CT scan to compare both options and will help you understand which option best supports your needs. Many patients choose Teeth in a Day because they want a fixed, non-removable solution, strong temporary teeth right away, fewer surgeries, and a shorter overall treatment timeline. Others prefer traditional dental implants, using a staged approach for more customization or when their bone structure makes it the better fit.

  • They look and feel like natural teeth
  • They offer strong chewing comfort
  • They help prevent bone loss
  • They maintain facial shape and support
  • They protect neighbouring teeth
  • They’re highly durable with proper care

The All-on-4 Implant Process: What to Expect

Dr. Stephen Malfair, a skilled dentist with decades of experience and extensive training in dental implants, will handle your implant treatment from start to finish. Every case is different, but most implant treatments are completed over several months to allow safe healing.

Consultation & 3D CT Scan

You'll meet with Dr. Malfair for a review your goals, dental history, and oral health. We'll use detailed 3D imaging to assess bone health and discuss your options, with no pressure.

Implant Placement Surgery & Same-Day Temporary Teeth

4-6 titanium implants are carefully placed using guided techniques and advanced imaging for maximum stability and safety. This is usually done under local anesthetic, but we also offer options for oral & IV sedation. In suitable cases, you’ll leave with secure, natural-looking temporary teeth fixed in place.

Dental Healing & Integration

Over the next few months, while you enjoy your new smile, the implants naturally bonds with your jawbone (a process called osseointegration).

Final Restoration & Support

Once healing is complete, we remove your temporary teeth and replace them with your custom full-arch bridge, crafted from durable, high-quality porcelain for a natural look and comfortable bite. Precise fixation and cementation techniques help ensure long-term stability, comfort, and durability. We’ll also guide you on caring for your implants and provide ongoing follow-up support to protect your results over time.

Advanced Technology for Precise Planning

Dental implant surgery is carefully planned using our onsite 3D CT scanner, located just one floor below the clinic. This technology allows us to plan implant treatment with exceptional accuracy, supporting:

  • Safer surgery
  • Well-informed decision-making
  • Highly predictable outcomes
  • Better long-term function

We’ve used CBCT-guided implant planning for more than a decade to support hundreds of successful implant cases in Kelowna.

Sedation Options for a Comfortable Experience

Dental anxiety is extremely common. We offer safe, regulated oral and IV sedation options to help you feel relaxed during implant procedures.

Dr. Malfair served on the BC Dental College Sedation Committee (2017–2020), helping shape provincial safety standards. His background ensures a calm, supportive experience for every patient.

If anxiety has held you back, we can discuss sedation at your consultation.

Teeth-in-a Day FAQs

Yes, for many patients, implants and a secure set of temporary teeth are placed in a single visit. You leave the appointment with fixed, natural-looking teeth that stay in place while your implants heal underneath. Final teeth are added later once healing is complete.

Most patients describe gentle pressure rather than pain. We use modern techniques and offer safe, regulated sedation to help you feel relaxed throughout the appointment. Most people are surprised by how manageable the recovery is.

The implant posts themselves can last decades, and many last a lifetime. Temporary teeth are worn during healing, and then your custom final teeth are designed for long-term durability, comfort, and natural appearance.

The cost varies depending on whether you are treating the upper arch, lower arch, or both, and whether extractions or additional procedures are needed. Full-arch implant treatment is one of the most predictable long-term options for restoring an entire smile. We follow the BC Dental Fee Guide and provide clear, written treatment plans for every case. Payment plans are available for patients who prefer to spread out costs.

Often, no. The All-on-4® approach uses angled implants designed to maximize existing bone, which can reduce or eliminate the need for sinus grafting (aka sinus lifts & bumps). A 3D CT scan is used at your consultation to determine what’s best for your situation.

Most patients return to normal daily activities within 1–2 days. You will follow a soft diet for several weeks to allow your implants to heal safely. We provide clear, step-by-step instructions to make the process comfortable.

Yes. Many patients choose this treatment because they’re tired of loose dentures or adhesives. Full-arch implants offer much greater stability and a more natural feel.

While technically any dentist can place implants, full-arch implant treatment requires advanced training, 3D planning technology, and experience with guided surgery. Dr. Malfair has placed hundreds of implants since 2006, is a Kois Mentor, and uses onsite CBCT imaging for precise, predictable planning.
